Most families first enter our doors through the Emergency
Intervention Program. These families
are in financial crisis and are usually facing or experiencing
homelessness. Families are offered an
appointment with a caseworker to discuss their situation. The family and worker discuss options on how
to alleviate the crisis situation.
Family Development principles are used to help families not only end the
crisis but to help them obtain and remain self-sufficient. If appropriate, DCCS provides a one time
payment towards rent, a utility such as gas, electric or water, or
prescription. Follow-up services are
provided and families are encouraged to continue working with us on their path
to self-reliance.
Appointments are necessary.
Families interested may call our office at (815) 758-3910 and
speak with a case manager to schedule an
appointment. One hour is allowed for an
appointment and during this time it is determined if a family is eligible for
financial assistance and how much we can help with.
Families can
only receive assistance through Emergency Intervention once in a 12-month period.
Funding used to give direct client assistance is:
-
Community Services Block Grant
-
Homeless Prevention (Financial assistance available once in
a 24 month period)
-
