Children of Veterans Scholarship


  • Children of Veterans Scholarship

Each November or December, Children of Veterans Scholarship applications are available online.  Go to www.osfa.uiuc.edu then Types of Aid, under the Scholarship Waivers Section, go to the Waivers Awarded by the University of Illinois to the link for Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver or by using this link http://www.osfa.uiuc.edu/aid/scholarships/waivers.html.  The applicant will need to print out the application and mail it to the University of Illinois Office of Financial Aid with the required documents.

 

The Children of Veterans Scholarship is a four-year tuition waiver at the University of Illinois.  The recipient may use his/her Children of Veterans Scholarship at any of the University’s campuses:  Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Springfield, or the Medical Sciences Center.  Up to four scholarships are awarded per county – one for each of the following wars/conflicts:  World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict, and Southwest Asia (Persian Gulf).  Specific information regarding the service dates and medal eligibility is provided on the application itself.

 

Applications for scholarships are accepted by March 1 each year.  Later application will be considered only if no other qualified candidates apply by March 1.  Candidates should submit a completed application and a photocopy of the veteran parent’s papers (DD Form 214) to The University of Illinois Financial Aid office.  Also, a copy of the ACT scores is required.

 

Please note that this scholarship is not for grandchildren of veterans.  All candidates will be notified by mail on or around April 1, whether they have be selected to receive the Children of Veterans Scholarship.
