Public Hearing

Cypress Creek Renewables Development, LLC, is the sole and managing member of Long John Solar, LLC, which has submitted an application for a 2 megawatt, 27.5–acre solar farm on property located on Somonauk Road, approximately 1100 feet north of Hidden Oaks Road, in Somonauk Township. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District and solar farms are a Special Use in that district. Before a Special Use Permit can be approved by the DeKalb County Board, a public hearing must be held before the DeKalb County Hearing Officer.

 

Cypress Creek is requesting approval of a Special Use Permit for the proposed solar farm on Somonauk Road, Sandwich. A public hearing will be held before the DeKalb County Hearing Officer on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in the DeKalb County Administrative Center, Conference Room East, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, 60178. Because this will be the only opportunity for public input on this application, all interested persons are encouraged to attend and be heard. The Special Use Permit petition, SO-18-22, is available for inspection at the DeKalb County Community Development Department, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, (815) 895-7188.

 

THAT PART OF ASSESSOR'S LOT NUMBER 16 OF SECTION 10, REFERENCE BEING HAD TO THE PLAT THEREOF IN THE RECORDER'S OFFICE OF DEKALB COUNTY, ILLINOIS, EXCEPTING THEREFROM ALL THAT PART OF LOT 16 LYING EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF SOMONAUK ROAD IN SECTION 10, ALL IN TOWNSHIP 37 NORTH, RANGE 5 EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, DEKALB COUNTY, ILLINOIS, MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:

 

BEGINNING AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF SAID ASSESSOR'S LOT NUMBER 16; THENCE NORTH 89°33'07" EAST, 1150.00 FEET ALONG THE NORTH LINE OF SAID LOT 16 TO A LINE 1150.00 FEET EAST OF (AS MEASURED ALONG SAID NORTH LINE) AND PARALLEL WITH THE EAST LINE OF SAID LOT 16; THENCE SOUTH 0°16'13" EAST, 799.17 FEET ALONG SAID PARALLEL LINE TO A LINE 200.00 FEET NORTH OF AND PARALLEL WITH (AS MEASURED PERPENDICULAR THERETO) THE SOUTH LINE OF SAID LOT 16; THENCE NORTH 89°32'36" EAST, 1213.22 FEET ALONG SAID PARALLEL LINE TO THE CENTERLINE OF SOMONAUK ROAD; THENCE SOUTH 3°27'10" WEST, 200.46 FEET ALONG SAID CENTERLINE TO THE SOUTH LINE OF SAID LOT 16; THENCE SOUTH 89°32'36" WEST, 2350.25 FEET ALONG SAID SOUTH LINE TO THE WEST LINE OF SAID LOT 16; THENCE NORTH 0°16'13" WEST, 999.34 FEET TO THE POINT OF BEGINNING.

The application for the Special Use Permit has been filed in accordance with the requirements of Section 9.02 of the Zoning Ordinance in order to approve the construction and operation of a solar farm on property zoned A-1, Agricultural District.
