Summit Ridge Energy has submitted applications for two separate 2-megawatt Solar Gardens to be located on property located on the west side of Pearl Street, approximately 670 feet north of Wolf Road in Franklin Township: one will be a 15–acre facility occupying the western end the property, and the second will be 15–acre facility just east of the previous facility. The property is zoned A-1, Agricultural District, and solar gardens are a Special Use in that district. Before a Special Use Permit can be approved by the DeKalb County Board, a public hearing must be held before the DeKalb County Hearing Officer.

 

Summit Ridge Energy is requesting approval of Special Use Permits for the proposed solar gardens on property located along Pearl Street, Kirkland. A public hearing will be held before the DeKalb County Hearing Officer on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the DeKalb County Administrative Center, Conference Room East, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, 60178. Because this will be the only opportunity for public input on this application, all interested persons are encouraged to attend and be heard. The Special Use Permit petitions, FR-18-26 and FR-18-27, are available for inspection at the DeKalb County Community Development Department, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, (815) 895-7188.

The applications for the Special Use Permits have been filed in accordance with the requirements of Section 9.02 of the Zoning Ordinance in order to approve the construction of two solar gardens on property zoned A-1, Agricultural District.
