Thinking for a Change 4.0 (T4C) is an integrated cognitive behavioral change program that was authored under a cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC). T4C incorporates research from cognitive restructuring theory, social skills development, and the learning and use of problem-solving skills. DeKalb County Court Services renamed our own program STEPS with the thought that the program is a stepping stone to making good decisions and positive changes. STEPS is made up of 25 lessons that build upon each other. The goals of STEPS are to: Increase the number of clients who successfully complete probation, reduce recidivism, reduce technical violations, and to improve your ability to take control and responsibility of your thoughts, behaviors and lives.
