Pop Up Nature 2024

  • March 28th anytime between 10am to 1:30pm stop at MacQueen F.P.
  • April 20th 10am to 1pm at Russell Woods F.P.
  • April 26th anytime between 8am and 11am at Knute Olson F.P.
  • June 27th anytime between 10am and 1:30pm at P.A. Nehring F.P.
  • July 2nd and 3rd Don’t Glow Home Yet! Special Hours event. MacQueen Forest Preserve will remain open till 10pm
  • July 25th anytime between 10am and 1:30pm at County Farm Woods.
  • August 29th anytime between 10am to 1:30pm at Sycamore F.P.
  • September 26th anytime between 10am to 1:30pm at Sannauk F. P.
  • October 31st 10am to 1:30pm at Russel Woods F.P.

  • The Volunteer Land Stewards Volunteer Group for the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District is a community-based organization dedicated to the protection and management of the natural areas within the forest preserve district. The group is composed of volunteers who work in collaboration with the forest preserve district staff to restore and enhance the natural habitats of the county. These individuals serve as ambassadors for the district and assist with a variety of tasks related to land conservation and preservation.The Land Stewards Group provides opportunities for people of all ages to learn about and participate in natural area management activities, which include working on trails, invasive species removal, collecting seeds, planting native plants, and monitoring wildlife. The Natural Area Stewards Group is committed to fostering a community-driven approach to natural area management that emphasizes collaboration, education, and the protection of the environment.Overall, the Land Stewards play an essential role in protecting and preserving the natural beauty of DeKalb County’s forest preserves. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for the environment make them invaluable members of the community.The Volunteer Land Stewards usually work on Wednesday mornings at forest preserve sites.For more information e-mail Natural Resource Manager Josh Clark at jclark@dekalbcounty.org
