Information Management Office (IT) / GIS

Our goal is to excel at providing the 650+ DeKalb County Government network users we support, and the approximately 105,000 DeKalb County citizens we serve, with a solid network that enables the sharing of information with ease and efficiency.  We seek to accomplish our goal via two paths – Network Services and our enterprise GIS system.

Network Services

  • Support network infrastructure
  • Ensure network security
  • Provide reliable backups and storage of data
  • Work with various County departments and vendors on technology related needs
  • Design and maintain custom databases
  • Plan, deploy and maintain audio/visual equipment
  • Provide and maintain County voice and email networks
  • Support squad car technology
  • Assist departments with FOIA requests and audio and video editing and redacting
  • Desktop support
  • Provide connectivity and support for local police agencies and township forms of government

GIS and Mapping

  • Develop and maintain geographic related map layers and features
  • Produce analytical maps
  • Perform data and spatial analysis
  • Maintain 911 map layers for use with 911 calls and emergency response, as well as the mapping needs for local police and fire agencies
  • Create custom websites
  • Handle website publishing, requests and maintenance
  • Provide accurate, complete and timely entry of a significant portion of the DeKalb County’s property tax system
  • Interpret and label conveyance documents recorded in the DeKalb County Recorder’s Office
  • Update the digital cadastral/parcel base map
  • Provide mapping support to communities and the public
