Public Hearings

Todd Tasche is proposing to construct an accessory structure, in the form of a pole barn, on the property located at 31038 Madison Street, Genoa, in unincorporated Genoa Township. Mr. Tasche would like to place the pole barn to the southwest of his house, however, the subject property is a corner lot, and the proposed location would result in the pole barn being located in the corner-side yard between his house and Madison Street. The DeKalb County Zoning Ordinance requires that accessory structures not be located closer to a street than the residence, and that they not be placed between the residence and a street. In order to allow the proposed pole barn in this location, Variations must be granted from these requirements. Before such Variations can be granted, a public hearing must be held by the DeKalb County Hearing Officer.

Mr. Tasche is requesting approval of such Variations from the Zoning Ordinance for the property located at 31038 Madison Street, Genoa. A public hearing will be held before the DeKalb County Hearing Officer on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the DeKalb County Administrative Center, Conference Room East, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, 60178. Because this will be the only opportunity for public input on this application, all interested persons are encouraged to attend and be heard. The Variation petition, GE-19-09, is available for inspection at the DeKalb County Community Development Department, 110 E. Sycamore Street, Sycamore, IL, (815) 895-7188.

That part of the Southwest quarter of Section 30, Township 42 North, Range 5, East of the Third Principal Meridian. Described as follows: Commencing at the Southwest corner of lot 100 at the Jones farm plot on said Section 30 and said Section 31, according to the plat thereof recorded in Book “G” of plats, page 30, as document no. 139109, in the office of the Recorder, DeKalb County, Illinois; Thence North 00 degrees 09 minutes 08 seconds East, along the West line of Lot 100 of said Jones farm plot, 286.50 feet, for a point of beginning; Thence continuing North 00 degrees 09 minutes 08 seconds East, 272.50 feet to the North line of the South 559.0 feet of said lot 100; Thence South 89 degrees 52 minutes 55 seconds East, parallel with the South line of said lot 100, 233.00 feet; Thence South 00 degrees 09 minutes 08 seconds West, 272.50 feet; Thence North 89 degrees 52 minutes 55 seconds West, 233.00 feet to the point of beginning, all in DeKalb County, Illinois.

The requested Variations are from Section 5.06 of the DeKalb County Zoning Ordinance, in order to waive the requirements that an accessory structure: not be closer to a street than the closest point of the primary structure; and, not be erected between the primary building and a street.
